As one of only two developers on The Quantum Conflict, I took on a multifaceted role,
primarily serving as the Technical Artist but extending far beyond that to include modeling,
texturing, visual effects, and user interface design. My contributions helped bring the game's
visually striking and immersive experience to life.
About the Game
The Quantum Conflict is an action-packed space combat game where strategy meets adrenaline-fueled battles.
Players choose advanced spaceships and engage in intense dogfights and tactical maneuvers against cunning AI or in thrilling
player versus player (PvP) dogfights. Navigate through asteroid fields, dive into the heart of wormholes, and outmaneuver
opponents in epic showdowns. With stunning graphics and immersive gameplay, only the most skilled pilots can dominate the stars.
Modeling and Texturing: Designed and textured various 3D assets, including ships, planets, and environmental elements,
to ensure a cohesive and polished aesthetic. Created visually compelling assets for both gameplay and background elements,
such as nebulae, asteroids, and wormholes.
Visual Effects (VFX): Developed intricate particle systems for explosions, weapon effects, and environmental interactions.
Implemented visual effects for time manipulation and black hole animations, enhancing the game's dynamic, sci-fi feel.
UI/UX Design: Designed and implemented user interface elements, including settings menus, HUD components, and
match selection screens, ensuring intuitive navigation and player engagement. Integrated localization functionality for accessibility
across multiple languages.
Shader and Material Development: Created custom shaders and materials, such as dynamic emissive shaders and photo-negative
post-process effects, to achieve unique visual styles. Optimized materials and shaders for performance without sacrificing visual fidelity.
Gameplay Enhancements: Added features like spawnable asteroids, health recharge zones, and level-based unlocks, contributing
directly to gameplay mechanics. Balanced visual and gameplay elements to ensure they complemented each other seamlessly.
Collaborative Development: Collaborated closely with the lead developer (Josh Chapman) to integrate artistic assets into the Unity
engine while ensuring performance remained high across different platforms. Played a significant role in debugging and refining both art and gameplay systems.
Impact
My efforts on The Quantum Conflict spanned the entire pipeline, from concept to polished assets.
This project demonstrates my ability to balance technical and artistic expertise, solve creative challenges,
and deliver a polished, immersive gaming experience. Being part of such a small team required flexibility,
creativity, and a commitment to quality—skills I take pride in and apply to every project I undertake.
